Representatives of the official investment and export promotion agency of Nicaragua, PRONicaragua, participated in a program designed by Experts in Trade for Developing Countries, TFO Canada; which took place in Toronto, the financial and business capital of this country. The event was carried out with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development of the Federal Government of Canada.
Starting on October 18, the five day program titled Gateway to Exporting to the Canadian Market provided market access training and brought together experts from the export sector, importers, retailers and consultants of TFO Canada, giving participants a detailed picture of the Canadian import market. Additionally, the program was designed to give participants specific information on market access requirements and the shipping of goods across borders inside and outside Canada.
Over 10 international speakers participated in the program, including Mr. Armando Rivas, who holds Route Development responsibility for Latin America with Cole International Inc.; Mr. Miguel Pinto, President of Worldwide Food Services Company; Jo-Ann McArthur, President and Founding partner of Nourish Food Marketing and the International Food Marketing Alliance; Marysabel Gonzalez, Project Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean of TFO Canada, and Ms. Judy Chong, TFO Canada Associate, among others.
The program was aimed for Latin American countries, with representatives from Honduras, El Salvador, Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. TFO Canada facilitates access to the Canadian marketplace and shares Canadian trade expertise for the benefit of SMEs from developing countries. TFO Canada delivers trade information seminars, conducts trade missions and provides customized market development consulting services for developing country exporters looking to expand into Canada.
