Nicaraguan cocoa showcased at Salon Du Chocolat

 


Managua, Nicaragua; October 23, 2015

A Nicaraguan delegation comprised of PRONicaragua, the official investment and export promotion agency of Nicaragua, and the fine cocoa producing company, Ingemann, will be traveling to Paris, France, to participate in the prestigious international chocolate event, Salon Du Chocolat, which will take place from October 28 to November 1 at Porte de Versailles.

The event will gather approximately 700 participants and constitutes an excellent opportunity to establish key contacts through business meetings with key suppliers highly involved in the chocolate and cocoa industry.

Earlier this month, Nicaraguan chocolate bars were awarded silver, gold and bronze medals in the 2015 International Chocolate Awards. Mikkel Friis-Holm, a Danish chocolate maker, participated with four bars made of Ingemann’s fine Nicaraguan chocolate. Ingemann produces an array of different types of cocoa with clearly distinguished flavor profiles for the fine chocolate industry worldwide. Currently, Ingemann has 1 million trees producing fine cocoa in Nicaragua.

In late September, Nicaragua joined the list of fine cocoa producing countries of the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO), after the country’s cocoa production was recognized as 100 percent fine cocoa. Cocoa available in Nicaragua is of the Trinitarian type, which if properly fermented, is the preferred raw material for fine and dark chocolates.

The country’s participation in this event is part of the competitiveness-strengthening program for Nicaraguan enterprises, an initiative of the Government of Nicaragua through the Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade in collaboration with the European Union and PRONicaragua. Throughout the year, PRONicaragua has accompanied local companies in various exhibitions in Europe including Seafood Expo in Brussels, Belgium, and SCAE, in Sweden among others.
