Nicaragua Ready for the Nearshore Nexus Conference

Apr. 15, 2013 - Nicaragua will be a sponsor at this year’s Nearshore Nexus conference, to be held at the Jersey City Hyatt Regency in New Jersey this April 24th. This is the second consecutive year that the country participates in this premiere event where attendees can benefit from executive-level dialogues about the opportunities, risks and advantages of developing strategic relationships in Latin America.

Representatives of PRONicaragua, the official investment promotion agency of the Government of Nicaragua, will be attending the event with the objective of providing up-to-date and relevant information on the country’s opportunities within the sector and the services the country offers, ranging from business process outsourcing (BPO) services to added-value knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) services.

“The country offers a wide array of competitive advantages for companies looking to outsource their services at a competitive cost, in a nearshore location and with a qualified human resource with cultural affinity to the U.S. and neutral accent. Combine this with the government’s pro-investment attitude and the high levels of personal safety, and Nicaragua becomes a destination difficult to ignore”, commented Javier Chamorro Rubiales, Executive Director of PRONicaragua.

Over 25 senior executives from across the Americas are speaking at the conference, among them Greg Lipper, Vice President of Global Business Services for Stapels and Linda Tuck Chapman, Chief Procurement Officer of the Bank of Montreal, as well as Joe Nocera, an award winning columnist of the New York Times.

Managua, Nicaragua’s capital city, was recently added to Tholons’ list of Top 100 Outsourcing Destinations, thanks to its improved infrastructure, competitive costs, a skilled bilingual workforce and an attractive geographical location. This means that Nicaragua is now on the map and getting its due as an up-and-comer in the industry with major players such as Sitel, 24/7 Customer and Stream Global Services. Additionally, Managua was also ranked third in the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Strategy category of American Cities of the Future 2013/14 ranking, published by fDi Intelligence, a division of The Financial Times.
