Testimonial about the success of the medical devices manufacturing company Command Medical, operating in Managua.
Feb. 23, 2011 - In recent years, fruits and vegetables have been widely developed in Nicaragua. As a result, producers have increased their production capacity making them seek new destinations for their products. This year, Nicaragua participated for the first time at Fruit Logistica 2011 in Berlin through a country stand. In the horticultural trade fair held last week, seven Nicaraguan companies were seeking new markets to sell their fruits and vegetables.
According to Roberto Brenes, General Manager of the Center of Exports and Investments of Nicaragua, after making a preliminary survey, Nicaraguan firms made more than 60 major business contacts during the three day fair.
Fruit Logistica was the perfect venue for international promotion of fruits such as okra, pineapple, seedless watermelon and mango. Promotion in the Fruit Logistica of seedless watermelon has resulted in new contacts in Germany to export before the end of the fruit season in April. The dragon fruit is another interesting product for the European market, which is being exported because of the air routes opened in recent months. As Roberto Brenes, Director of the CEI, said, "Although Nicaragua has very good demand for dragon fruit in the United States, the country wants to diversify its market and position itself in European markets".
In conclusion, Fruit Logistica 2011 was very positive for the horticultural sector in Nicaragua. They made very good business contacts with European firms and also made more their products better known. For Nicaragua, it was a total success participating in the show in Berlin by using a stand of the country.
