Nicaragua’s total exports of goods amounted to US$5,143 million in 2014, representing an increase of 8.4 percent, a historical record for the country.
The country’s most important exports by value in 2014 were meat, with an export value of US$448 million, whose main export destination was the United States; followed by coffee with US$395 million, whose main destination was Europe; and gold, with US$385 million whose main export destination was Canada. Additionally, the top destinations for Nicaragua´s exports include the United States, Venezuela, Europe, Canada and El Salvador, in order of importance.
The main products exported under the free zone regime were textiles, automotive harnesses, agro-industrial products and outsourced services. Also, the main destinations for these products were the United States, Mexico, Honduras, Spain and Canada, according to the National Free Zone Commission (CNZF, for its Spanish acronym).
PRONicaragua, the investment and export promotion agency, aims to strengthen and diversify the presence of Nicaraguan products in the most important international markets. With that goal in mind, the agency will accompany a delegation comprised of seven companies in World of Coffee 2015, the largest event of coffee that will take place from June 16-18 and will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden. Additionally, the agency will be participating in ANUGA, the main food and agriculture event in Europe this year and in November PRONicaragua will be co-organizing the XIX Conference of Free Zones of the Americas, alongside the Association of Free Zones of the Americas and the CNZF.
