Nicaragua is ready to showcase its world-renowned coffee in the upcoming edition of SCAE, World of Coffee 2015, in Gothenburg, Sweden. A Nicaraguan delegation comprised of seven companies will be attending the event alongside PRONicaragua, the investment and export promotion agency of Nicaragua.
In 2014 Nicaragua’s coffee exports amounted to US$395 million, of which US$95 million came from the European market. Additionally, the two main products exported to the European Union were coffee (40%), and peanuts (17%) with a 57 percent share of total exports to that market. The Association Agreement (AdA, for its acronym in Spanish) between Nicaragua and the European Union entered into force on August 1, 2013.
World of Coffee is Europe’s greatest coffee gathering and one of the world’s pre-eminent coffee events, bringing thousands of coffee professionals and enthusiasts together over three days for a celebration of speciality coffee. At the event, the delegation seeks to meet and establish key contacts with international buyers to explore potential business opportunities.
PRONicaragua will be participating in various events this year to promote the export offer of the country, among which are ANUGA, the main food and agriculture event in Europe, and the XIX Conference of Free Zones of the Americas, organized by the Association of Free Zones of the Americas, the National Commission of Free Zones (CNZF, for its Spanish acronym) and PRONicaragua.
