The Presidential Delegate for Investments, General Alvaro Baltodano, recently visited Under Armour's headquarters located in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S., where he met with the company's Senior Sourcing Director, Dean Draughn.
After a brief tour of the Under Armour facilities, the company gave a presentation highlighting its growth rate and success in the last couple of years. Additionally, during the visit the company discussed its interest in increasing its apparel production in Nicaragua.
New Holland Apparel, Flying Needle and Hansome Nica are currently producing the world-famous brand Under Armour in Nicaragua. These companies mainly export to the United States and Europe.
According to the Nicaraguan Free Zones Commission, in 2014 the sectors that most contributed to the country's free zones exports were textiles and agroindustry. Apparel exports specifically to the U.S. reached US$1,515 million by the end of 2014, according to the Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA).
