Nicaragua’s total exports of goods grow 10 percent

Nicaragua’s exports of goods to the third trimester of 2014 have grown a total of 10 percent in relation to the same period in 2013. Not including free zone exports, the country has exported US$2 billion up to September of this year, according to the Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN, for its acronym in Spanish).

Likewise, the country has exported a total of 1.4 billion kg, which represents a growth of 16 percent in relation to the 1.2 billion kg of 2013.

During this period, the most exported products were coffee, meat, gold, sugar and peanut. Of all products, sugar exports have increased the most from 2013 to 2014 in terms of both value and volume, with a 21 and 28 percent increase respectively.

The top export destinations during the period were the United States, Venezuela, Canada, Europe, and El Salvador. The most exported products to the United States, Nicaragua’s major trade partner, were coffee, meat, gold, sugar and lobster.
