PRONicaragua launches “Summer Internship Program” at its Washington, D.C. office

Managua, Nicaragua; June 30, 2015

PRONicaragua has launched its first Summer Internship Program in Washington, D.C. The program has been designed in alliance with various universities in the United States, for outstanding students and recent graduates, interested in the fields of sustainable economic development, Latin American studies, and improvement of a country´s investment and business climate.

This year, among the interns selected are a recent grad school graduate from Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.), and an undergraduate student from Holy Cross University (Worcester, Massachusetts).

The program involves working at PRONicaragua’s U.S. office in Washington, D.C. for eight weeks. Each program participant has been assigned with a specific project to be completed by the end of the internship, which include conducting studies aimed to focus PRONicaragua’s efforts into a better investment promotion strategy. Due to the demanding nature of these projects, participants must demonstrate strong research and critical thinking skills.

PRONicaragua will provide the students an integral experience, exposing them through the internship to a multicultural and multi-sectorial environment. For that reason, interns take part in activities that allow them to apply and expand their knowledge and experience in areas relevant to their academic and professional pursuits—for example: visits to Think Tanks, attendance at speeches by important leaders and introduction to Nicaraguan Government officials.

The Summer Internship Program will be a permanent part of the operation of PRONicaragua’s office in Washington, D.C.
