The national shipping company Santé NICA Lines, S.A. recently launched its logistics services to the east coast of the United States during an inaugural event that included the participation of representatives from the public sector, free zone companies, national corporations and business chambers. The company started operations in May of this year and has invested US$8 million to date in equipment, vessels, private marina, containers, top picks, and forklifts; as well as in the implementation of the Managua – El Rama – Miami, Florida route.
The event was presided by Virgilio Silva, President of the Nicaraguan Port Company (EPN, for its acronym in Spanish); Azucena Castillo, General Manager of the Nicaraguan Producers and Exporters Association (APEN, for its acronym in Spanish); and Bruno Elias Ramos, President of Santé NICA Lines, S.A., who addressed the importance of developing the port and logistics infrastructure in the country in order to boost foreign trade.
Santé NICA Lines, S.A. offers its services to Nicaraguan companies that trade various products with North America, such as legumes, coffee, textiles, refrigerated goods and other domestic products. By providing a constant and uninterrupted service through the Arlen Siu port in El Rama, the company will allow exporters and importers to reduce transport costs.
Ramos highlighted that he seeks “not only the success of the company, but of the exporters and importers of the country. Since the beginning we have been working closely with government institutions and the private sector, whom we thank for their constant support. We are confident that our investment will contribute to the economic development of Nicaragua's Caribbean coast through the promotion of trade activities and job generation.”
Aware of its importance for companies who have been waiting for a shipping company to support their logistical needs and allow them to meet their deadlines, the company guarantees a biweekly route going from El Rama, Nicaragua to Miami, Florida. However, it is willing to offer weekly trips in the short term if demand so warrants.
Santé NICA Lines, S.A. is a 100% Nicaraguan corporation, with a branch company, Sante Shipping Lines, based in Miami, Florida, which operates since 2008 to various destinations in the Caribbean, Central America and Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. The shipping company has warehouses in Miami Bonded, which will be used as a bridge between Managua - El Rama - Miami, as well as to any other destination in the world.
